Frequently asked questions

What is a video management system (VMS)?

A video management system is the software that records, stores, displays and searches video from IP cameras. Examples include Milestone XProtect and NxWitness. The VMS is what lets a site with hundreds of cameras be monitored and reviewed from one place.

What does integrating CCTV with access control mean?

It links the two systems so that events in one can be seen in the other, for example matching a door event from the access control system with the camera footage of that door. It also means both systems sit on one properly designed network.

Which brands does Bytexa work with?

Cameras: i-PRO, Axis, Hikvision, Bosch and Hanwha. VMS: Milestone and NxWitness. Access control and alarms: HID, EntryPass, Paradox and Deister key cabinets. Storage: Synology NAS and redundant NVR storage.

Can large camera deployments be made fault tolerant?

Yes. Bytexa has delivered a 300+ camera deployment on a redundant distributed NVR storage architecture with independent dual-path power isolation for a high-availability banking logistics site in Singapore.
